Disco Inferno: Holy Ghost! and Chromeo

Exile on Main Street is at the top of the charts. Sideburns and beards are in. There is unrest in the far east. The Nets are moving to New York.  A rational human being can come to only one conclusion: we're living in the 1970s.  Don't blame me; I voted for McGovern.

And boy, do we have a style of music for you!  It's called disco, and it's sweeping appropriately-named "discotheques" across the nation.  The dance floor isn't the only place to find this musical synth-ovation, however: this summer, you can shake it at your favorite concert hall simply by following FP favorites Holy Ghost! and Chromeo on their national tour.

Holy Ghost! have had a busy week.  In addition to the tour news, they opened for LCD Soundsystem at New York's Terminal 5, and their debut EP Static on the Wire dropped via James Murphy's DFA label (you can purchase a double vinyl/digital version over at the DFA website).  Rest assured that this five-song party on wax will infect you with the funk.  As a slight break from their aforementioned tour, they will be performing at the Central Park Summer Stage with label-mates Hot Chip and Hercules & Love Affair on August 4th in what promises to be a get-down disco-splosion.

Chromeo, formed in the great city of Montreal some seven years ago, consists of BFFs Dave 1 and Pee Thug, neither of whose mother gave adequate thought to the naming process.  They have been accused of being "too ironic," and this may be true.  But, as we well know, irony is the new highest-form-of-flattery,  and these French-Canadian boys certainly flatter the funk.   Their new full-length Business Casual will be released on August 17th, and they'll be augmenting their summer tour with stops at Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, where they will be performing with an Oats-less Hall & OatsManeaters welcome!

So, leave the stolid confines of your home this summer, go see Chromeo and Holy Ghost!, and catch that fever.  Your bootie will thank you.  Included below are originals from each group, as well of a pair of remixes from a pair of bands that promise to be big in about 35 years.
